I was wondering if you could respond to a few questions posed by our library building consultant.
It would be great if you could respond to her at: lauren.stara@state.ma.us
However, I will gladly forward responses to her.
1. Do you have standards for physical collection size in public libraries?
2. Have the standards changed in the last few years, or do you anticipate changes in the near future?
3. If so, what statistics and/or anecdotal evidence prompted the change or anticipated change?
4. Is there someone I can contact to discuss standards and trends in physical collection size?

Has she looked at this page on the wiki for question #1?

As you know, Wisconsin has public library standards that include physical collection size (see http://pld.dpi.wi.gov/pld_standard). The last edition was published in 2010 and based on a model of library service used here for the past 15 years. We plan to revise these standards in 2015 to address the way that collections are continuing to change in our public libraries. So, stay tuned!
